Another early morning.

We walked over and caught a boat ride out onto the Sea of Galilee (or, as it’s also known, Kinneret, or the Lake of Tiberias, or the Lake of Genessaret), where Eric Huntsman and I spoke, everybody sang, and a number of people danced.

We disembarked at Nof Ginosar, where the famous “Jesus Boat” is housed, and went from there to Magdala, a site that I dearly love.  (See here and here.)

We then drove to the Church of Peter’s Primacy, the traditional setting of John 21.  Members of the group were able to walk down there and dip their toes in the lake (or attempt to walk across it).

Next, we visited Capernaum, another of my very favorite places.  (See here.)

After lunch at Kibbutz En Gev, on the eastern shore of the lake, we traveled to Beit She’an, where we walked through the impressive Roman-era ruins of the only city of the “Decapolis” that’s located on the western side of the Jordan River.

Finally, we passed through a checkpoint into Palestinian territory and drove to and around Jericho — including a stop for a photo of the Mount of Temptation — where we’re lodging in the very nice (and quite large) Oasis Hotel.  Jericho has some of the best dates that I’ve ever taste, and some of the best corn on the cob.
