Shock: mom defends giving Botox to eight-year-old

And now  the mother is under investigation.

A San Francisco mom defends using Botox to remove the lines from the face of her 8-year-old daughter. The interview first aired on ABC’s Good Morning America Thursday morning and immediately touched off a controversy and now there is an investigation.

Child Protective Services is now getting involved. Many people say what the mom is doing is child abuse, but she insists she’s not the only mother giving Botox to her child.

Britney: It hurts and I get used to it…
Reporter: Do you cry?
Britney: A little.
Reporter: You do?
Britney: But now, I don’t.

Britney is only 8 years old, but she gets Botox injections regularly. Her mother, Kerry Campbell, told ABC’s Good Morning America she administers the shots. Campbell has been entering her daughter in beauty pageants and says she got the idea from other moms.

“And they were just telling me about the lines on her face and how, you know a lot of the moms there, they’re giving their kids Botox. And it’s pretty much like the thing. I’m not the only one that does it,” said Campbell.

Viewers who watched the story Thursday morning were outraged. In fact, San Francisco’s Child Protective Services was flooded with calls from people concerned about Britney’s well-being.

“We need to sit down and talk with the mom, talk with the child, and see what’s going on,” said Trent Rohrer.

Rohrer is in charge of San Francisco’s Child Protective Services. He says his staff has launched an investigation. They’re working with the police department.

“It’s pretty unusual for a mom to be injecting an 8-year-old with Botox and certainly is grounds for an investigation,” said Rohrer.

  1. This woman is “sick” and living through her child. What mother in her right mind injects her daughter with poison?? When I heard it on the news I was outraged also. It’s bad enough this child is in “beauty pageants”, which IMO, are the parents living through their little girls (in many cases they start them as soon as they can walk). Also, how many 8 year old girls have “wrinkles”??? Am so glad that this is being investigated—and IMO, the other mothers should be too. It is child abuse—-

  2. While they’re at it they can investigate how the mom got the botox in the first place. I’d say there are a few more laws broken right there. Hopefully this blows a whole bunch of pageant moms right out of the water.

If she had a son I wonder if she would be giving him steroids so he could enter body building contests?

  3. These pagent moms ought to be charged with child abuse. My daughter is 9 and positively gorgeous. I can say that without bragging because I did not give birth to her. When she and her cousin want to use play makeup for dressup I tell her only in the house. I also tell her when you are young you don’t need any makeup (even true of most teens) and when you are old like me and you do need makeup you are too tired to bother!

  4. The article makes clear that the injections started as an outgrowth of that apotheosis of stage mother narcissism and child exploitation know as the tiny tot beauty pageant. These shameless exhibitions treat small girls (and some boys) as if they were highly groomed pedigree dogs at a kennel show instead of children.

Turning 4 and 5 year olds into painted exotic and erotic pseudo-women really needs the attention of every state CPS, because Botox and worse will always follow.

  5. momor: The question about how do these mother’s get the Botox crossed my mind also. I certainly thought that stuff was regulated! And unfortunately your question about what she would have done with a son—she probably would find a way to “buff’ him up!

  6. Just heard that the child has been taken away from her mother while they investigate. Drastic?

  7. Is it my imagination or did I hear a release on CNN that this whole mess is one gigantic fraud and it was a set-up by someone wanting to get some money out of someone and it rather got out of hand. . .

    Or did I imagine that?
