God became man, and the world would never be the same. Evangelicals witness this reality in their own lives all the time: the Lord invades, and we are ever transformed by the working of His Spirit. Our Creator saved us through the work and person of Jesus Christ, Who is revealed in the infallible pages of Holy Scripture. That Person and that Bible have much to say about the world we live in as well as hope for the world to come. And we are here to spread that news. This Good News must always be preached from our pulpit.
But God and His Word are often ignored and forgotten. We often see orthodox teaching and practice derided across headlines and in regular conversation. We pray that we would be those who will “earnestly contend for the faith which was once delivered unto the saints.” The times are dark; confusion and immorality abound. Yet we are told in Scripture that “the light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.” Welcome to the long defeat, where Christ’s victory is assured.
It is from this rather paradoxical frame of reference that twenty-first century evangelicals speak and write. Our desire is that this group blog of the Evangelical Channel at Patheos can be a beacon of light in the world. Here, you can hear the thoughts and concerns of evangelicals from all walks of life: pastors, moms, dads, theologians, historians, scientists, entrepreneurs. Even though so many of our contributors fulfill different vocations, they are united in the one Truth.
Christ is Truth, and we pursue Him.
