Is it safe to say that Hugh Jackman has sailing ships on the brain right now?

The actor, best known for playing Wolverine in the X-Men movies, will soon be seen as the pirate Blackbeard in Pan, which comes out in October.

It was also revealed back in March that Jackman is thinking of starring in a movie about the apostle Paul, who famously survived at least four shipwrecks.1

Now Variety reports that Jackman is in talks to star in the adaptation of Homer’s Odyssey that is currently being developed by the studio (Lionsgate), director (Francis Lawrence) and screenwriter (Peter Craig) behind the Hunger Games franchise.

Will Jackman still be interested in playing Paul after starring in yet another movie — or, rather, a series of movies — about an ancient man who spoke Greek, had supernatural encounters and traveled all over the Mediterranean?

We shall see, I guess.

1. In II Corinthians 11, Paul writes, “Three times I was shipwrecked, I spent a night and a day in the open sea.” And that was before he survived the one shipwreck that the book of Acts records, in Acts 27.
