Conservatives Praise Billy Graham’s Call to “Vote Biblical Values”

“Billy Graham is featured in a national advertising campaign calling America back to God and urging Americans to ‘vote for biblical values’ on November 6 — a move that many conservative Christians are calling ‘unprecedented,’” reports Todd Starnes at Fox News Radio.

“I believe it is vitally important that we cast our ballots for candidates who base their decisions on biblical principles and support the nation of Israel,” Graham said. He also urged Americans to vote for “those who protect the sanctity of life and support the biblical definition of marriage between a man and a woman.”

This advertising campaign launched with full page ads in the Wall Street Journal and USA Today, and will be followed by similar ads in as many as a dozen states over the next few weeks.

Let’s all just forget that Billy Graham called Mormonism a cult during the primaries…

  • Deena

And has since removed references to that on his website. As a Mormon – trust me we’ve heard it all so many times from so many sides we don’t pay attention to it. We don’t fit their definition of Christian, we understand that. We believe ourselves to be Christians, and that’s all we care about. There’s a lot of misinformation out there about the LDS Church, there are people who’ve made a life-long living attacking it, writing books, speeking at Protestant churches, etc. and so most Protestants have grown up hearing this stuff. We just let it roll off us and keep speaking the truth of what we believe. And when someone like Billy Graham modifies his views, as he just did this year, we’re happy to shake his hand, as Mitt did this week. Forgiveness is, after all, one of those Christian virtues we seek to emulate :-).

Let’s not try to sugar coded our words and actions when it comes to God’s Holy Words. Any church /person that deny Jesus Christ as The Son of God it’s a cult, period. I appreciate Billy Graham for speaking the truth…..don’t get me wrong, Jesus loves ALL!

  • Deena

Well, the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints (the Mormons) affirms Jesus is the Son of God. Our first article of faith is We believe in God the Eternal Father, and in his Son, Jesus Christ, and in the Holy Ghost. Mlynn, if someone has told you otherwise, that’s part of the anti-Mormon propaganda I was referring to.

Might I ask if you are insinuating that Mormons deny Jesus Christ as the Son of God? If you are, I can find hundreds of quotes from LDS church leaders and LDS doctrine that proves we DO definitely accept Jesus Christ as the Son of God. Most folks who are not, for some reason, comfortable with the fact that LDS do accept Jesus Christ as God’s son, try to get around it by claiming that Mormons believe in a different Jesus. As far as I know, there is only ONE Jesus who died on the cross for our sins, and that is the Jesus the Bible teaches about, and in whom LDS believe.

    Case closed.

Just ignore the Biblical teaching of helping the poor and those in need… :P
