Happy April Fools’ Day! This is the day that the internet and other media are full of pranks, hoaxes, and tall tales. So if you come across any, please report them here. Thus we can honor the day.
Professor of Literature at Patrick Henry College, the Director of the Cranach Institute at Concordia Theological Seminary, a columnist for World Magazine and TableTalk, and the author of 18 books on different facets of Christianity & Culture.
Google’s got a “Google smell app” going. Here’s to the Google joke!
Twitter has announced a two-tier service in which you have to pay in order to use vowels in your tweets, effective immediately. You may continue to tweet with all consonants for free.
An LCMS inside baseball (to cal on that theme) one: http://gottesdienstonline.blogspot.com/2013/04/lcms-in-news.html
@2, this would be quite a boon for Twitter considering the favorite letter of most tweeters it ” I “.
I, personally, care not for April Fools’ Day. It goes from annoying (there’s a bug in your hair) to mean rather quickly. Still, I offer this list in the same manner Mrs. Cratchit drank to Mr. Scrooge’s health, namely, in honor of the day. http://ladycreate-a-lot.blogspot.com/2011/03/april-fools-day-30-harmless-pesky.html
A swarm of performing fleas due to appear in a show at a fair in the town of Mechernich in North Rhine-Westphalia have perished in freezing conditions.
•Hardy Germans brave snow to take a dip – National (30 Mar 13)
•Icy spring sets records for deep freeze – National (24 Mar 13)
•Migrating birds leave frozen Germany – National (15 Mar 13)
The fleas were being transported inside a Styrofoam-protected box when the deaths occurred, said Robert Bork, director of Bavaria’s flea circus.
The blood-sucking insects, known for their remarkable strength, were due to perform somersaults, play football and pull mini carriages.
The show has been kept on the road, however, by parasite expert Professor Heinz Mehlhorn, who has donated 50 of his own fleas to stand in for the deceased performers.
Bork has acknowledged the show will be “a little more low-key” but has confirmed the new fleas are fit for the performance.
When I opened the reddit app on my phone, the screen flashed green and then I got a fatal error message. It ran a program that made it look like my phone was rebooting and running a diagnostic. The diagnostic gave me regular process updates, made it look like the diagnostic failed and then sent me an April fools message. I believed it until the diagnostic started sending me messages saying “$%^$ this is bad”
The Google Nose video is pretty good.
The Republican Party has finally grown a pair!!!
APRIL FOOLS !!!
It will come to no surprise to any of you to find out that today is my birthday.
When I opened reddit a few minutes ago, I got a pop-up of a hatchet that said “crude hatchet of paragraphical indifference” to and then some weird counters that said “periwinkle” and “redorange” at the bottom. At the top of the screen it says to use it wisely. Now there are popups that say “inventory” on the bottom of my reddit screen and the counter boxes. Apparently I’m the only one, but I can’t check because everytime I try to go on reddit, it’s down for overload or “we’ll be back soon”

The little town of Pinedale, WY has a news feature called “Pinedale Online.” In honor of today, they have a feature called “Pinedale Offline.” Only visible today, of course: http://www.pinedaleonline.com
Actually, I was almost taken in by today’s “Offline”–it’s technologically possible!
I know this is slightly off-topic, but having been prompted by yesterday’s Easter sermon, as well as my recent break from social media, I feel that I need to apologize to the user who posts here as “tODD”. Over the course of the last month, I made several comments to him on this blog that were not out of Christian love. He and I certainly have our disagreements, but there is no need for name-calling of that nature.
