The party was going to by hype. Excitement filled his veins. Everybody was going. Then, the time came. The car rolled out with a shout. Everyone knew what this night was about. Laughs filled the car. The house came into view. In the midst of it all, God arrived too. Before things truly hit, the blue lights lit. Joy turned to horror. White men with guns, now was the time to run. The empire was only doing what it knew to do. Oppress the oppressed until their lives are through. They ran to the car. It seemed so far. Now, wasn’t the time to try and be tough. Throughout their lives, they’d seen enough.  The backseat was now an altar and such. “Is their any other way?” You could hear someone say. As fear lingered in his eyes, the shot pierced all sound. There wasn’t even a second to flee into town. As the bullet hit, it felt like God was gone. When time stopped, he learned that was wrong. “My child, your death will give many sight.” Though police brutality continues, let’s not forget salvation arrived that night. The altar is open…the time is right…Jesus is waiting…will we pick up the fight?

Amen.
