Experience the Loving Presence of Jesus in Your Life

Pope Francis delivered his first address in English Friday. Listen here. It is quite moving to hear a holy father in your native tongue. Even as he said what he says! He brings it back to the his first Angelus message again and again: Never tire of asking for God’s forgiveness.

He’s going to get us to the Sacrament of Reconciliation yet!

In a video to a conference in the Philippines, he said:

I hope you would experience again the loving presence of Jesus in your lives, that you would love the Church more and that you would share the Gospel to all people with humility and joy. Do not get tired of bringing the mercy of the Father to the poor, the sick, the abandoned, the young people and families. Let Jesus be known in the world of politics, business, arts, science, technology and social media. Let the Holy Spirit renew creation and bring forth justice and peace in the Philippines and in the great continent of Asia that is close to my heart.

And he brought it back to night one, after his election:

Please pray for me. I promise to pray for you, especially to Our Mother the Blessed Virgin Mary, Star of the New Evangelization.

Nice to hear him speaking English.

So earnest and full of love. Great to hear. Here is Gerald O’Connell’s reaction to the same message: http://vaticaninsider.lastampa.it/en/the-vatican/detail/articolo/28760/
Pope Francis is usually not self-conscious about any perceived shortcomings except this language thing (and perhaps, the chanting at Mass). Hopefully, by Christmas he’d finally do the Urbi et Orbi blessings in different languages.

So stirring are his words that he has inspired “Catholic” politicians in Illinois to legalize same-sex “marriage”. God bless Pope Francis; God help the rest of us.
