“I have the sensation that my pontificate will be brief: Four or five years. I don’t know. Or two or three. Well, two have already passed!”
Well then…. Although he seems in good health, the 78-year-old pontiff seems to think that perhaps his years on this earth are drawing to a close. There certainly is no indication that he’s planning to resign like his predecessor, Pope Benedict–so the “people’s pope” must be looking ahead to heaven!
The other major revelation which I read courtesy of CBS News is that Pope Francis likes pizza. “The only thing I’d like to do,” he said, “is to be able to go out one day without anyone recognizing me and go get a pizza.”
Oh, and later in the day, he announced that December 8 would begin a Holy Year dedicated to forgiveness and mercy. But more–much more–on that later.
