Tax-Dodging Trump Is a Hypocrite

Tax-Dodging Trump Is a Hypocrite October 6, 2016

I’ve been blogging about the New York Times revealing days ago that Donald Trump declared a $916+ million loss for taxable income on his 1995 income tax returns in two states–New York and Connecticut–which apparently would have come from his federal tax return that year. The result is that he probably did not pay any federal income taxes for the next 18 years.

In the first of three, televised, presidential debates scheduled between Hilary Clinton and Donald Trump Monday night, Mrs. Clinton brought this subject up, that it appears he has not been paying federal income taxes for many years. Trump interrupted her by saying, “that makes me look smart.” That comment appears to be an implicit admission that Clinton was right.

In early 2012, President Barak Obama had been saying that many very wealthy Americans have not been paying “their fair share of taxes.” He was saying this to promote his plan that the top 1% of taxpayers be taxed at a higher rate than had been. It is now being reported in the media that on February 23, 2012, Donald Trump was asked on Fox News on television about this. He replied, “Well, I don’t mind sacrificing for the country, to be honest with you.”

No, Donald, you aren’t honest about sacrificing for the country. For you then tweeted, “Half of Americans don’t pay income tax despite crippling govt debt.” That is a deceptive comment, much like Mitt Romney made to the financial supporters of his campaign for president in 2012 which had a devastatingly negative affect with voters. Romney implied they were living off the government by purposely not working. Most of Romney’s 47% and Trump’s 50% either had not made enough money to pay income taxes or were retired.

But the worst thing about Trump saying half of Americans don’t pay taxes is that he himself has been living a billionaire’s luxurious lifestyle, apparently without paying any federal income taxes.

Trump, you are a total hypocrite! Hilary Clinton should press this issue all the way to election day on November 8th. This should sink Donald Trump’s run for the White House just as it apparently did for Romney, himself also a wealthy man but one who has been paying taxes.
