A Note on My Commenting Policy

I just wanted to let my readers know that if you post a comment and I don’t respond it’s because I don’t make a policy of responding to every comment or even every comment that poses a question. When I first started blogging almost a year ago, I did. But now I don’t, and that’s for two reasons:

First, time. It takes time to write these posts, so I really don’t have time to go around responding to every comment. I mean, I do have a husband and family and I am in grad school and all!

Second, emotional energy. A while back I used to argue with readers who disagreed with what I wrote, but I found that that took up a lot of emotional energy and left me feeling drained. So now, the way I see it, I put out my thoughts in a blog post, and if someone disagrees, that’s no big deal.

So if you comment and are expecting me to respond and I don’t, that’s why. Sometimes I do comment, either thanking someone for an insightful comment or responding to a question, but mostly, I just write posts and then let my readers comment away. I do like it when readers have discussions with each other in the comments sections, responding to each other’s queries or arguments. And you guys are really good at that!

Anyway, this is really the same clarification I write on my old blogger site months ago, but I have new readers so I thought I’d restate it. 🙂
