My reader writes:

Good news; they got the dog back! The father put up a reward for its return and someone contacted them so they went and picked up the dog. My mom’s friend suspects this was all some kind of scam; steal a dog then collect the reward. Sounds possible, but the girl is just glad to have her Sesame back.
