    I found Flannery O’Connor deeply disturbing. I had waited until my 40s to read her. Yes, she writes extremely well. But really really disturbing … like being trapped in a real-life horror movie, if that makes any sense.

    Disturbed? Read “The Habit of Being,” you will see her as the “anchoress of common sense” and a woman of almost “severe humility.”
