  • Ricky Bobby: “Dear tiny infant Jesus… ”
Carley Bobby: “Hey, um… you know sweetie, Jesus did grow up. You don’t always have to call him baby. It’s a bit odd and off-puttin’ to pray to a baby.”
Ricky Bobby: “Well look, I like the Christmas Jesus best, and I’m sayin’ grace. When you say grace, you can say it to grown up Jesus, or teenage Jesus, or bearded Jesus, or whatever you want.”

Thanks for this. I’ve always found the Finding at the Temple to be one of the more difficult mysteries to, well, to get into, although I hate using that phrase in such a context.

Thanks, Mark. This particular mystery is one close to my heart right now. It reminds me that my children are their own spiritual people and that sometimes they may surprise me with the ways they are called to closeness with God, even at their young ages. I am also reminded that my job is not to make them in my own image, but in God’s. Sometimes that is very, very hard to remember.
