A reader sends along info on Horatio Storer, who I never heard of before

February 27 marked the birthday of Horatio Robinson Storer, M.D. (1830-1922). As this shows, this is a date worth celebrating by pro-lifers.

    Wow! Never knew about this guy although I was aware that most pre-Roe state laws against abortion dated from the 19th century.
    So if these statistics are accurate, we (the U.S.) had both rampant abortion AND rampant slavery going on in the 1840′s and 1850′s. Maybe the Civil War was God’s judgment/punishment for more than just slavery. Or maybe the huge loss of life that resulted from the war was what made the public and various state governments more receptive to Dr. Storer’s proposals?
    It’s also worth noting that the laws the good Dr. proposed focused on the doctors/abortion providers — nowhere does he suggest women be punished for seeking abortions (as pro-aborts often like to claim will happen if abortion is made illegal again).
