was “Jones’ Fantastic Museum“. Started by a local entrepeneur named Walter “Doc” Jones it was a tribute to the 19th Century carnival/house of horrors/amazing gizmos genre of entertainment. It was located right down the road from where I lived and our family would periodically go there. It had everything: wonderful toys and weird exhibits and Olaf the Giant. Here is Doc Jones spiel along with a montage of photos from the place. Eventually, the place moved to the basement of the Food Circus before it finally died in about 1980. I’m willing to bet every Seattleite of my generation remembers it fondly.

Here is the terrifying Man from Mars machine that scared me so bad as a kid. Somebody still owns this apparently:
