Windows 7?

Windows 7? October 29, 2009
Many of you know that probably the all-time most visited page on my blog is a solution to a problem with Windows Vista, namely getting a black screen after you log in. Having suffered with Vista, I have been eager to try Windows 7, which so far is getting good reviews as, if nothing else, a vast improvement on Vista.

Today, however, someone found their way to my blog having searched for keywords related to Windows 7, black screen and login. I sure hope this isn’t an indication that the same issue is going to plague users of the new Microsoft OS as has troubled thousands and thousands of users of Vista.

Does anyone have any thoughts or insight from their own experience? I’m ready to try Windows 7 (the installation of which presumably will require me to reinstall a very substantial proportion of the programs currently on my computer, but it may be worth the hassle for the time saved in waiting for the computer to respond). Any advice, suggestions, comments or other input before I take the plunge?
One other question: does one need any special equipment or incantations to exorcise Vista, or do you simply command it to come out of your computer in the name of Windows 7?
