Fox News Contributor Gets the Axe, After Attacking Blasey-Ford

Fox News Contributor Gets the Axe, After Attacking Blasey-Ford September 28, 2018

If you want a lesson in how not to conduct yourself civilly during the course of a very sensitive and politically-charged hearing, look no further than Kevin Jackson, Fox News contributor and head of The Black Sphere dot net.

Throughout the day’s emotional testimony before the Senate Judiciary Committee by Judge Brett Kavanaugh and the woman who has accused him of awful behavior as a high school boy, Dr. Christine Blasey Ford, Jackson gave his commentary.

And he was nasty.

Truly, today’s hearing was compelling TV. I ended up watching all day.

I found Dr. Ford to be sincere, but somewhat befuddled, as she forgot key issues, such as who was where on that night, whether she was pushed into the room by Kavanaugh or his friend, Mark Judge, and how she got home.

She also spent the first part of questioning revising her initial statements.

Was she believable?

She did seem to be working through some past issues. We know she’s gone through therapy in the past.

But did she have the evidentiary support needed to ruin a man’s life and reputation?

No. She did not.

Whether she did or not, however, the idea that she should be attacked is ridiculous. This was a difficult day for both Ford and Kavanaugh, who was equally compelling in his testimony.

No, in a situation like this, you do great damage by going low and attacking either of them.

So Jackson went low and the reaction of Fox News was swift.

Fox News fired network contributor Kevin Jackson on Thursday after he called the women who have accused Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh of sexual misconduct “lying skanks” in a Twitter rant that day.

“Kevin Jackson has been terminated as a contributor. His comments on today’s hearings were reprehensible and do not reflect the values of FOX News,” the network said in a statement.

Ouch.

It wasn’t as if Jackson was making reasoned or thoughtful commentary on the proceedings. He was being a real jerk, attacking Ford, first of all, for her looks.

“Wow, #ChristineFord looks rode hard and put up wet, as we say in the country. Just peeked into this FARCE,” Jackson said in one tweet.

So desperately unhelpful.

When someone reached out and tried to reason with Jackson over his attitude, he just doubled down, and attacked all three of Judge Kavanaugh’s accusers.

“I disagree. Feminists are their own worst enemies, and enemy of women,” Jackson wrote in another. “Also, they want men to NEVER be believed. I’m not succumbing. TO HELL with the notion that women must be believed no matter what. Lying skanks is what these 3 women are, and we ALL know.”

Real smooth, guy.

Clearly, he felt he had a safe space with Fox News.

I can’t even say that Jackson’s take was the worst I’ve seen through this harrowing process.

It’s just the one that got him fired.

So, while Kavanaugh will likely be confirmed and life will go on, the hope is that some lessons have been learned.

We can only hope.
