A Serenity Sequel?

Dean says Maybe!

My elder son brought the Firefly DVD collection home from college with him and we all got hooked over the Christmas vacation. Last night my husband and I (patiently waiting for Netflix to send us Serenity) were complaining that the series was gone and woe-is-us, no more movies…and here it was something the whole family was enjoying!

A great series…actually reminds me a little bit of the Japanese anime series, Cowboy Bebop. Only even better. :-)

My son Buster is wondering – does anyone know of any effort out there to bring back the Firefly series? He’d like to sign on. My little activist!

If you like “Serenity,” you’ll love “Buffy- The Vampire Slayer.” Seven seasons, and not a bad episode in the bunch. No “clip shows” either. IMHO, the best TV series ever. The best one-hour TV episode ever? “Passion” in Season 2 where Ms Calendar is killed by Angelus-there isn’t a second wasted.

Joss Whedon has a three film contract for the Firefly movies. Right now there is talk that the first one did not do well enough at the box office to warrant taking it to theaters again … they are talking about straight to video release.

However, if the DVD sales go well enough (which is what brought back Firefly in the first place) then the studio will reconsider. So if you like the movie then buy it also.

I don’t know of a “bring back Firefly” movement but if Buster finds one be sure to let me know! I’ll sign up in a New York minute! :-D

Me, too! I received the “Serenity” DVD as a Christmas present. We had seen it in the theater and I realized there were many subtle moments I missed. If you can, watch the “deleted scenes.” (IMHO, most of them should have been left in!)
