2012 Review With Spoilers

Very entertaining talk on why the new film 2012 is not worth spending a dime on, at least from my perspective. Fr. Robert Barron calls it “anti-religious” and “anti-Catholic,” although among people of faith Buddhists are allowed to be good people who live (there you go, Joseph, you’ll outlive me!).

He has a good time tearing apart Roland Emmerich’s movie -where anyone who prays dies- and the irony he discusses at the end is particularly amusing. Enjoy

Spoil away, I have no plans on wasting my money on this nonsense. Just another gazillion dollars worth of special effects and a $2 script disguised as a movie.

I went to see “2012″ last weekend because my husband insisted we should go see it (I would otherwise have avoided it).

We were both disappointed in it, not so much because of any “anti-Catholic” sentiment but simply because the plot and acting were lame, in fact laughably so at times, and the movie went on WAY too long (3 hours from the theater start time, including interminable previews of at least 10 other “coming attractions”).

There were many scenes that were supposed to be “intense” — people fleeing earthquakes, volcanic ash, tsunamis, etc. — that were so over the top I couldn’t help but laugh at them. It reminded me of “Earthquake” or “Poseidon Adventure” or “Towering Inferno” only with better computer generated special effects.
