Jimmy Fallon comes out…

… as a Papist, I mean. Or at least he used to be a practicing one till he went back and found a band and a man that wanted to hold his hand.

GROSS: Do you still go to church?

Mr. FALLON: I don’t go to – I tried to go back. When I was out in L.A. and I was kind of struggling for a bit. I went to church for a while, but it’s kind of, it’s gotten gigantic now for me. It’s like too… There’s a band. There’s a band there now, and you got to, you have to hold hands with people through the whole Mass now, and I don’t like doing that. You know, I mean, it used to be the shaking hands piece was the only time you touched each other.

GROSS: Mm-hmm.

Mr. FALLON: Now, I’m holding hand[s] – now I’m lifting people. Like Simba.

Come home to Mother, Jimmy. There are still a few sane Catholics out there. There are parishes where there are no bands and everyone does *not* want to hold your hand. A place where people are there for the same reason as you are: to pray and be in the presence of God. You may have to look, but we’re here and we’d love to have you!

    Mr Fallon,
I do not know if you have heard of it but there are many TLM parishes and Masses in LA and NYC, where the layman never shakes, holds hands or embraces for the Kiss of Peace or at any other part of the Mass or are there bands that play crap and irreverent “music that is not permitted by the Church.
That having been said you are obliged to obey the First Precept of the Church and go to Mass every holyday of the year where it is obliged and that is non-negotiable for the salvation of your soul, unless you physically cannot make it to Mass.

The single main end of Mass [why we are there] is to adore Almighty God.
    He demands it in justice.
Everything else is way down the line.

I think I need to reconnect with the outside world… who is Jimmy Fallon?

    • Tim

He’s like Carson Daily… but not.

If parishes started saying to the laity, “We are going to stop holding hands”, there would be 5 people upset and about 500 who either don’t care or are glad not to have to hold the hand of that nearby snotty kid who keeps coughing into his hand.

Here’s a suggestion: stop holding hands or doing the (optional) Sign of Peace for flu season and test the feedback from the people.

  • As Funny as Jimmy Fallon is, he does bring up a good point.
There are many things that Parishes do that don’t appeal to the Universality that is the Catholic Church.

But, as Katie O’Keefe put it, “you may have to look…” but there is a Church out there that DOES Fit You…We’re not called Catholic fer nuttin’

Yes! I had a feeling that he was Catholic or at least fallen away! I was wondering after watching one of his shows and now I know for sure. Sorry for gloating because my gut feeling was right, but Crescat, you have made me a happy woman by posting this! 🙂 Thanks!
