potpourri of popery…

I didn’t know Pope Benedict had a kitty. I may need to reevaluate my very low opinion of cats. For the most part my cat treats me like a piece of heated furniture and my house is his hotel. As far as cats go; however, mine is the perfect cat – if there were such a thing. He stays outside all day so I don’t even own a litter box. We named him Benedict but I might as well call him meat-stick; it’s not like they come when they’re called.

Edited to add: Apparently I’ve been clueless to the fact that my Pope is a cat person.

My cat comes when called, the trick is when they are kittens to call them their name every time you feed them. Cats can’t be trained so much as manipulated…

Awwww… now that is cute… (the pope and the cat)

He certainly does love cats. Check out this lovely children’s book published by the Catholic Truth Society in the UK.

The picture of the Pope looks Photoshopped.  Notice that there is a reflection of the paper on the shiny surface of the desk, but not of the cat.

      Keen eyes!

Well, I’d have to say it’s probably Photoshopped since the original seems to look more like THIS:

But I also know the pope has a love for cats and that when he goes on vacation, sometimes they make sure he has a cat around, which I think is so sweet.

Iris Celeste made an astute observation about the shadow which sent me in search of other versions of the image.

      I have very clever readers!

      Thank you.

That’s funny, I’m not even Catholic and I knew the Pope was a cat person :)

Love that video…existential kitty!  My cat responded to his name, would  instigate games of hide and seek and taught himself to pee in the toilet.  My brother called him “Tucker-the-almost-human cat”.

He had a cat before becoming pope.  He definitely loves cats.

You gotta like anyone who loves animals. Pope Benedict obviously has a sensitive side to him and a cat is perfect for someone who is more introspective.
