Wanderlust, County Roscommon…

My grandmother was born in County Sligo. One day I’ll get to Ireland and have a Guinness in a real pub. If I book now for October I can get to Ireland for less than $400. Of course, if I book now for August [hurricane season] I can go to Puerto Rican for $150. Decisions, decisions.

Right now I’m so poor the closest I’ll get to a foreign country is drinking imported beer.

Bottoms up.

Sixteen months to Santiago de Compostela and counting…

HA! Been there! My girls love that park, they used to play in the playground there nearly every day we were visiting my in-laws!

My mother is from Ireland.  I went there once and I have no desire to ever go again.  It was cold and rainy the whole time, and my understanding is that it is frequently cold and rainy.

My husband and I went to Ireland for our honeymoon, in late July 1999. I was so excited to head there, to get away from the Midwestern heat…and it was 80 degrees and sunny the ENTIRE time we were there.  The Irish were beside themselves with joy and kept saying, “Aren’t you lucky to have this lovely weather on your trip!” It wasn’t until our last day there that we got the lovely cool, misty weather I’d heard so much about.
