Dolce and Gabbana’s Designer Babies…

… So a couple of famous homosexuals made a stink this week by declaring they were against gay marriage and for the traditional model of the family. And suddenly all the right was in love with them, and they were embraced by Catholic media. But…

Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana, founders of the eponymous fashion house, have come out strongly against gay marriage, the notion of gay families, and the use of surrogacy to procreate.

The billionaire pair, who used to be romantically linked, gave an interview with the Italian magazine Panorama, in which they said, “The only family is the traditional one. No chemical offspring and rented uterus. Life has a natural flow; there are things that cannot be changed.”

They also said, “Procreation must be an act of love.”

“I call children of chemistry, synthetic children. Uteri for rent, semen chosen from a catalogue,” Dolce stated.

Gabanna said, “The family is not a fad. In it there is a supernatural sense of belonging.” [Source]

But… before we start holding them up as bastions of morality, let me point out that they just referred to children as “synthetic children”, as if children have any control over how they are brought into life. It’s demoralizing and dehumanizing, and certainly not Catholic, to treat children as objects no matter how they were conceived.

So please lets take a moment to rethink our new found love for D&G, okay. Just because they say one thing you like the sound of doesn’t change the fact that they think gang rape is oh-so glamorous.
