Good morning, all!  I’m back from DC, voice students are all educated, and today I’m catching up on all the news I’ve missed over the last week. Here’s something to perk us all up: View post on imgur.com I’m also reading through Neil Carter’s responses and starting my fact-checking, will post soon about that.  Hang tight. Read more

This is long, but I wanted to be thorough. I will leave this up on my blog to the exclusion of any other post through the weekend while I’m at the Reason Rally.  Take your time, but I think it’s important. First, I will endeavor to make no claims in this post for which I do not have proof.  However, there will be times when the proof I have cannot be provided (for all others I will provide documentation).  For... Read more

Good morning, all!  I’m still alive, but working on a major project I intend to post around Tuesday. This morning I, and a couple of my voice students, will be the musical guests at Kansas City Oasis.  Here’s what is going to be sung: Ty (baritone): This Is The Moment from Jekyll & Hyde Anne (mezzo): Popular from Wicked Myself (baritone): Javert’s Suicide from Les Miserables And I will have to do a closing song.  I wanted to do something a... Read more

Good morning, all. Sorry about yesterday, I had to go to the doctor (follow up from me having the plague last month — I’m in good health and the shot they gave me didn’t even hurt). And then there were showings in the house until literally 8:15 pm, so I was stuck out of the house.  🙁 And over the summer all my voice students are on the same day.  That means I leave at 9 am and return at... Read more

Hey all.  So, I’ve had a thought. I pinged an audio expert I know. I may go up and record 20-30 covers of songs from rock to opera to musical theater to pop. After I would release one each week on my blog while asking for charitable donations for various atheist organizations. Do you think this would be a fun/productive weekly feature? If so, what songs would you like to hear covered? Read more

I read the Christian Post, and most of the time it’s just an eye-rolling waste of my time.  But every now and again they post something about church/state separation where they try so, so hard to paint the offenders as the victims and then it’s all worth it. The Freedom From Religion Foundation has gotten an Ohio public school to stop having their official school choir sing “The Lord’s Prayer” at graduation.  Jonah Hicap covers it for the Christian Post:... Read more

It’s hard to argue that the Philippines are not the Catholic Church’s foothold in Asia.  86% of the country’s population claims to be Catholic. This is undoubtedly why the Catholic Church has had so much influence over the country.  For instance, though the Philippines has a law saying the government must provide contraception to the poor (if the poor want it), the Catholic Church managed to get the budget for that program slashed.  Hell, the Church even waged a nationwide... Read more

It was a good time.  We talked about mental illness.  It felt a tad intimidating being asked to give my opinions on the same platform as a clinical psychologist, but I think it worked out really well. Callie Wright has recently joined the lineup here at Patheos.  Check out the Gaytheist Manifesto if you’re interested in hearing more from Callie. Read more
