Greetings WWJTD readers! Your friendly reproductive biology grad student here to fill you in on some science about abortion! The New York Times recently published an article about all of the annoyances of state legislators getting in the way of doctors prescribing the abortion pill in the safest ways they know how to (so much for small government!). No, Ohio doctors must prescribe the abortion pill only as the FDA has described, no deviations from those guidelines. At first glance, one... Read more

In an interesting development, ex-NBA star Shaquille O’Neal is now investing in esports — specifically CS:GO and League of Legends. He’ll be buying into the NRG brand. He joins other NBA players Rick Fox (owner of the team Echo Fox), Jeremy Lin, and Jonas Jerebko: While there is a number of differences separating basketball and CS:GO, Shaquille O’Neal said in an interview with The Red Bulletin’s John Gaudiosi that there is one big commonality between the two. “Teamwork,” Shaq said.... Read more

I absolutely love Obama in the last year of his presidency: The Obama administration has proposed a new rule that would prevent states from defunding Planned Parenthood or any other family planning provider for political reasons. The new rule, which the Department of Health and Human Services proposed last week, says that states cannot withhold Title X federal family planning money from certain recipients for any reason other than the provider’s “ability to deliver services to program beneficiaries in an effective... Read more

I feel like I need to introduce a new feature column on the blog: Shit You Could’ve Guessed. In our hypothetical new column, our first post would be that the crew at 538 have determined that more education and less religion generally lands someone in the Clinton camp. The corollary tends to support Trump. If ever you needed further evidence that religion and lack of education generally leads people to poor decisions, I give you the above image. Next on... Read more

I got the following message from John: My grandmother died last night. I have to go to a funeral, full of family who are believers. I will have to hear so many things like “God called her home” and “She’s with your Grandpa now”. I know they mean well, but I’d like to be able to tell them how hurtful those kind of platitudes are to nonbelievers. Do you (or your readers) have any advice on what to say? I... Read more

The NY Times reports: Kathleen Kennedy Townsend, the eldest child of Robert F. Kennedy, said in a Facebook post on Monday that the elder President George Bush told her that he planned to vote for Hillary Clinton. The former president, however, is not talking. Ms. Townsend, 65, a former lieutenant governor of Maryland who on Facebook uses her middle name, Hartington, posted a picture of her shaking Mr. Bush’s hand. “The President told me he’s voting for Hillary!!” the caption... Read more

The Catholic Church has lost its most proficient soldier in the war against demons: Father Gabriele Amorth, the Catholic Church’s top exorcist who claimed to have sent 160,000 demons back to hell, has died in a Rome hospital at the age of 91. 160,000?  That’s quite a lot.  Especially when you consider recent numbers.  In March, 2010 Amorth claimed to have performed 70,000 exorcisms.  Demons everywhere!  Then, by May 31, 2013, the number had gone up to 160,00 exorcisms.  That’s... Read more

Well, here’s a big story: NO! God dammit, not that. Although that’s all I freaking see on Twitter. AS;LJAS;LDKFJAS;LDJFA;SLDKJF;ASDJKFUCKFUCKFUCK Anyway, this is the real story. The Washington Post has confirmed that Donald Trump has been using funds from his charity (read: other people’s money earmarked for charity) to settle lawsuits against his for-profit business: Donald Trump spent more than a quarter-million dollars from his charitable foundation to settle lawsuits that involved the billionaire’s for-profit businesses, according to interviews and a... Read more
