Sadly this may seem to have an element of truth to it! AS churches are closing and the world predicts the end of the western church within a generation, I heard that the UK Anglican churches response to this has been to double the number of bishops as their church attendance plummets.
Fortunately though this is not the whole story. God is restoring his church, movements like Newfrontiers are producing vibrant lifefilled multicultural churches around the world. The Alpha course continues to mushroom and allows thousands of people to discover that real Christianity is nothing like the image we see in the media.
I believe that the church will rise again from the ashes and it may well seem as miraculous as the idea that Sadam might retake baghdad, but unlike him the church has weapons of mass salvation!
