Ming the Mechanic: “An old rigid civilization is reluctantly dying. Something new, open, free and exciting is waking up.” HE speaks presumably about the web, blogging, the open source movement and the potential we might all start actually working together for the common good- shocking thought!
Maybe I am a skeptic, but although I can see pockets of such co-working happening, I fear that we will not get there quite so easily. The nature of man is to be selfish. How can he change that and co-operate is the biggest question and surely it goes beyond the tools needed to co-operate. Otherwise so-called co-operation can occur for evil ends- look at internet paedoporn and the man who recruited a victim to experience ‘voluntary canibalism’.
It is man himself that needs to change, not merely his tools.
