Tell me something somebody, anybody out there who knows about these things.
Is it right that an entire nation should grind to a halt because of a few INCHES of snow?
I know I have some American readers, do you have the same problem?
Is it just our incompetent English system? Almost all the tube lines seem to be down and I just spent 4 hours bumper to bumper to get round london and only spotted ONE bit of road where the grit had succeeded in stopping the snow from settling. Everywhere else there was snow galore!!!
I passed several gritting lorries- I thought they were supposed to grit before the cold started- and they seemed to be making no real difference at all- were they using the wrong kind of grit?
Why do we have to put up with this each year? I am sure that snow-ridden countries deal far better with feet of snow than we do with inches!
And now they are saying the slush will freeze again overnight. How can this be right? Doesnt the use of grit guarentee you a wet but non-slip surface?
Should we all stay in tomorrow or try and get to work?
