The unchurched Christian, Mac recants….. (almost)

Having really rattled my cage with an allegation that church going Christians were somehow defficient to the liberated non church goers, Mac Swift has no said ‘There have already been promises made that would see us in new fellowship, so I simply have to trust that he will bring these promises to pass.’

Now whilst this is a step in the right direction, this is as sad as the man who says God is going to bring him a wife and doesnt bother to get out there and get to know some godly women!

God simply doesnt work that way Mac. You have to co-operate in the process. Firstly, try and establish if you can what kind of church you are looking for, then visit as many churches as is necessary till you find one you ‘click’ with. If you don’t find any suitable, examine yourself very carefully- are you a divisive individual who won’t fit in anywhere? Then, widen your geographical area and consider moving house to find a church.

Your faith depends on it.

A few posts down, I challenged my unchurched friends how they intended to submit to leaders outside of a church context. It is interesting to note, no one has even tried to answer that point.

Trust me, there are many many other reasons I could add, but I want this to be a dialogue.

I will just add one more, and it is one that should bring a chill to every individualist Christian’s bones.

1 John 2:19 ‘They went out from us, but they were not of us; for if they had been of us, they would have continued with us. But they went out, that it might become plain that they all are not of us.’

Now, leaving one church doesnt put anyone in this category. Failing to be a part of God’s highest plans for the human race (his church) at all for a prolonged period- well that does suggest to me a position dangerously close to the people described in this verse.

Find a Godly community urgently Mac, and the rest of you!
