Jollyblogger: Theological Reflections:
“for the past 2,000 years countless Christians of all stripes from the Apostle Paul onward who have regularly meditated on Jesus’ Passion have also experienced greater and deeper spiritual growth thereby. Perhaps the massive lack of such meditation on the part of we pampered and spoiled modern Western Christians –who seem much more interested in the warm fuzzies of Gospel Lite than in the holy suffering of Jesus’ challenge to take up our crosses and follow Him”
Having heard a great sermon on the cross at church on Easter Sunday, watched the Passion and preached on the cross myself in the last few weeks, I think it is clear that bringing the cross back to the centre of our Christianity is the biggest need of the Western church.
