Why blogging cant take the place of church

Jollyblogger impresses me again when speaking about blogging :

“I see two areas where Christians need to take this to the next level. First of all, ‘faith comes by hearing and hearing by the Word of God.’ Stories of Johnny Cash and Bono are great for making connections, but I hope our cyber-evangelists will make the same effort at getting people into the Word of God as they do in making connections.

Secondly, I am still flummoxed as to how we are going to create authentic Christian communities in the cyberworld. Several years ago George Barna was telling us that something like 10% or 20% of people get their spiritual feeding through the internet and the numbers are growing. So, he told us that the church needs to be in cyber-space. He was even recommending that churches have ‘internet ministers.’ That’s all well and good, but how do we get Acts 2:42-47 style community in cyberspace or the blogosphere. I am sure that all of the cyber-evangelists would agree that the connections made through the internet are a starting point, and should lead to a love for the Word of God and Christian community. But, on a practical level, I don’t see how it happens. Would love to though.

One possible partial solution to this is audio sermons online of course- but this will NEVER in my view replace the physical GATHERING of the church!
