Gary Petersen quotes another site as saying : “Satan rejoiced, demons did cartwheels, at the sight of a stone cold Jesus in a death-chilled tomb. They queued for a glimpse of Christ the Saviour clasped in death’s bondage, now Christ the Corpse.”
I couldnt disagree MORE with the above quote. Jesus was not in defeat when he died. His death itself was a victory and when he cried ‘It is finished’ the Devil knew it was over for him. When the temple curtain was torn in two and the people raised from the dead, Jesus had won!!!! Remember he went straight to heaven to glorious victory. ‘Today you will be with me in paradise’ he said to the theif on the cross.
Do not think that the devil won on the cross, he lost- it was his worst moment. One of my favorite moments in the film the Passion of the christ is when the devil is suffering in a pit immediately after Jesus death.
