They seem to insist on somebody else doing their thinking for them. The individual who doesn’t make up his mind to cultivate the habit of thinking misses the greatest pleasure in life. He not only misses the greatest plesure, but he cannot make the most of himself.”

I guess one of the characteristics of Reagan seems to have been that he was willing to think outside the perceived wisdom- whether that was about surrounding himself with the right advisors is almost not the point. He was the one who challenged the Russians on issues like the wall.

We need such indedependent thinkers today.
