Missing my commute…..

Missing my commute…..

ReepiCheeps reports

Time keeps on slippin’…… slippin’, slippin’ into the future.

Why I haven’t been spending time in the Word: a top 5 list:

  1. I’m too busy with work.
  2. I’m too busy with the family.
  3. I’m too tired.
  4. My commute takes over two hours out of my day.
  5. I just don’t have the time.

Our youth pastor pointed out the obvious solution several weeks ago. Can you guess? He suggested that I could probably use my commute time. No, he wasn’t encouraging me to read and drive (though I see others doing just that). His solution was that I pick up a copy of the Bible on CD and listen on the way to/from work. Well, I filed that idea away until the end of last week when I determined that if I used only half of the effort required to avoid God, to seek Him out I could probably eliminate this spiritual slump I’ve been in. Thanks to ebay I did find a copy of the NIV on CD. It should arrive tomorrow. I pray that I can get into a habit of listening/reading the Word. I really am growing tired of feeling “spiritually numb” and being comfortable with it.

Well done for this!!!! Welcome to the blogdom, I can tell all ready I am going to love your blog.

I can also testify the the great opportunity that commuting presents if done in a car. Bible CDs are just the beginning. Other spiritually useful activities include: Prayer (no one can hear you!) worship (CDs are great for this) meditation (the fact you cant go switch TV on or whatever really helps the focus), self-examination (did I do the right thing today at work?), listening to sermons (the more the better- my 5 year old son does one a day- but not in the car!), and audio books (both christian and secular) can also be utilised.

Actually, I am currently being chauffered everywhere as due to my broken toe I cannot drive. I really miss my commute.
