I am late to mention this, but as the night has gone on I realised I couldnt go to bed without doing something practical about the disaster that is unfolding before us.
The following are a few organisations you can donate to in the knowledge that relief will flow to the victims of this catastrophe.
I have donated personally to all of these tonight. The first two can claim back tax on gifts donated by UK residents.
The last of these, the American Red Cross is raising money at breakneck speed thanks to Amazon. Just a few hours ago the total stood at 2 million dollars, and as I write this it has topped THREE MILLION. Amazon have done a great thing by doing this.
If you are in a position to help practically then there is a blog outlining help needed.

Please be aware that e-mail spammers have begun soliciting funds on the pretext of helping the Tsunami. Do NOT give to them. The three organisations above are bona fide and there are others – don’t let criminals divert your funds from helping the victims!
