Messy has decided to stop going to church. Here’s my open letter to her, which might be relevant to other chrisitans reading this morning who are not going to church. If you are in London today, and read this in time come and join my church for African day.
—————
Messy, I am actually less worried about you this time than the last time you spoke of leaving church. It sounds to me like you know that church is important for your walk with God. Sometimes it is tough to battle against our flesh and the enemy who both want us not to go.
As we delight in God, we need to realise that he wants us to do certain things. One of them is go to church even when we dont feel like it. Its funny how we give more of our committment to our workplaces and wouldnt dream of just “taking a break” for many weeks without a good reason and still expect to be paid.
Church is about putting stuff in so that God can bless us in return. We would be wise be at least as committed to it as to our attendance at work.
If you are still going to miss church, for goodness sake at least force yourself to listen to some good online sermons. May God meet you and reveal again the importance of actively being in church.
Let us not give up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but let us encourage one another and all the more as you see the Day approaching. Heb 10:25 (NIV)
