Forgiveness and a tale of modern prophetic insight

Forgiveness and a tale of modern prophetic insight November 6, 2005

My friend and pastor Tope is a good charismatic preacher. This morning as part of his sermon on forgiveness he told a story of how God spoke to him about a woman’s past. There are so many examples I am aware of from my experience of God genuinely speaking today that I am fully convinced both experientially and from scripture that the gifts of the Spirit are for today.

This morning’s message touched raw nerves in many that were there today. People streamed to the front to own up to unforgiveness in their lives and take the first steps to dealing with it and forgiving those who have harmed them.

Tope quoted Rick Warren who said “hurt people hurt people”. I pray that following this morning and the results of choices that people made to walk away from holding onto bitterness will have important rammifications in the lives of others. Perhaps a child who’s parent has learnt to forgive the hurts they have experienced will themselves grow up not experiencing the pain that they were before.

The question is when you are the victim of sin, is will you cut the cycle and make sure you dont continue to be a container of pain. Forgiveness is hard, but the alternative is worse.

I would strongly recommend all of my readers to listen to Tope’s talk, it will help you even if its just so that you can help others! How many of us have never been legitamately hurt by others?
