Justin Taylor quotes his old boss John Piper as follows “Am I missing it, or is there an unusual silence in the blogosphere about the Muslim outrage over the cartoons of Mohammed. To me this cries out for the observation that when artists put the crucifix in a flask of urine, Christians were grieved and angered, but not one threatened to kill anyone. Our longing is to convert the blasphemers with the Good News of Christ’s death and resurrection, not kill them…..”
Perhaps having cancer strips away political correctness!
UPDATE
The above coment was not in any way intended to imply that Dr Piper was politically correct before his cancer. I guess what I wanted to say was that this paragraph seems a brave thing to say in the modern climate and having the eternal perspective that John probably has more clearly right now than ever before might have influenced his decision to publish these thoughts. The exclamation point should also be a clue that this was a tongue-in-cheek comment.
