BLOGDOM TODAY and Open Blog Weekend

Justin Taylor has a special offer on a new adaptation of a John Owen book. He can offer 40% off the cover price which, of course, compares well with my offer of 25% off Logos Bible Software, but with the price of software being greater, you can, of course, save yourself more money by buying the software than the book! Now, if you believe that argument you have been watching too many modern commercials and ought to go get yourself this updated version of the Owen book and learn from the good Puritan how to root out sin from our hearts.

Speaking of books, Taylor also has several lists of what books should have been on the “top 50” list of influential books for evangelicals from Mahaney, Storms, Hamilton, and Ryken.

Open Theism Resources I found this great page of links to articles which debunk the modern heresy of the “openness of God,” which claims God doesn’t know the future.

Mark Lauterbach has a great article about how we can be both holy and missional at the same time.

Christian Thought: The Chicken or the Egg? Posted on their desire to both be convinced about spiritual gifts and experience them. Here is what I said in their comment section:

I would encourage you to keep searching the Scriptures to see if this is true in a Berean fashion. The more you learn about the Bible’s view of this issue, the more your desire will grow. Also, be provoked by reading material on the gifts. For example, yesterday I wrote on my own experience of prophecy. Let the hunger rise within you and give God no rest. Then, find someone who has received gifts who can pray for you – it is biblical that the gifts are often imparted through the laying on of hands, although that is not to say that they cannot happen spontaneously.

Joe Carter has an interesting post reflecting on his blog’s third birthday. Three years is a lifetime in blog time! Well done Joe!
