DG06 – A Blogger Responds to D. A. Carson

One of the things I love about this remote blogging thing, is that I get to read posts like this one by Free to Live which speaks about the individual’s sense of conviction and response to a message they have heard. I have not yet read the full notes of Carson’s session, but I already know the talk was a corker.

I am a great believer in the fact that our Christian life advances not so much incrementally as in a series of crisis moments where a sermon we have heard or an experience we have gone through causes a dramatic shift in our thinking, feeling, and practice. Sounds like this blogger had one of those moments. Go read the whole post, but here is a taster!

“The Desiring God Conference has truly been a blessing and a great source of encouragement to me and convicting me to keep moving. I had been struggling for the first day and a half with various thoughts flowing around in my head, of personal glorification and pride, and yet trying to fight them off. It can be quite tiresome and a drain. However, I listened to D. A. Carson speak about LOVE. I was convicted. I was so distracted with so many things going on, I forgot about one important thing – the Love of Christ. Well, I really didn’t forget about it, but it wasn’t the focus. Christ’s love SHOULD be our focus, and when we have lost that focus, sin starts to rear it’s ugly little head out and say. . . ‘HEY! It’s time to go to town on this sucker.’ And, boy, does it. . .”
