Why did science allow the tsunami?

Why did science allow the tsunami?

UK TVs Newsnight at 10.30 on BBC2 tonight will be speaking of how well

people have responded to the disaster. They say they will also ask

theologians the why did God allow it? question but also the in this case

arguably more important question- Why did science allow it?. They claim

equipment used to monitor for nuclear tests was laying idle whilst the

workers were on holiday and could have been used to give the early warning

that might have saved thousands of lives.

Veteran journalist Lord Deedes says “As I’ve noticed in lesser disasters,

human beings have a way of doing

best when the scene is darkest”.

They also have a way of doing their worst as concerns about isolated

criminal advatage-taking demonstrate. Watch out for any bad news stories

being buried by spin doctors at the moment!

More information on tonights programme is at

http://www.bbc.co.uk/newsnight

They may even post a transcript or video link at some point.

I plan to record this but won’t be watching it tonight. Instead I plan to

find something mindless on TV to relax to following my first day back at

the office.

Its a bit of a shock to the system and yes the blogging will suffer!

But one of the bonusses of this job is that I actually get these lulls at

work. I actually had ZERO emails over thge break! That would never happen

in the NHS as people still get sick at Xmas but then maybe it would as I

only ever had email at work once in my hospital work!
