Peace and goodwill to all?

Peace and goodwill to all?

Its happening again. I found a row (translation=argument!) is brewing in the christian blogosphere once more – even in the middle of the Christmas break. The row all stems over exactly what is supposed to have been said in a chat room back in August.

Once again, I am not going to take sides this time – and am even going to resist the temptation to link to the relevant posts, as it will only add fuel to the fire. I will say that I think that there are some basic principles we can all follow that will make spats like this less likely. I would encourage Christian bloggers to read my principles for Christian blogging post as it contains some lessons I learnt the hard way- I wish I had read something like it when I first started blogging! I am sad to say that I have not found many other posts highlighting these kind of points – perhaps because most Christian bloggers tend to assume that all Christian bloggers know how to behave online. Assumptions are a bad idea. I would love to see (especially this holiday season!) more bloggers write their own posts on the subject of how Christians should blog or perhaps comment on and extend the one I wrote the last time a nasty spat arose in GodBlog land.

Actually, I must say one thing before I leave you, given the sorry state of the church offline today and the terrible divisions often seen all too plainly, the thing that amazes me most about the blogging community is that there is actually so LITTLE of this kind of thing going on!
