Bill Gates being a state-appointed censor does sound bizarre. But La Shawn and other bloggers are covering what appears to be clear evidence that Microsoft is co-operating with the Chinese government to muzzle bloggers. One blogger calls them “state-sponsored thugs”
There is nothing in the mainstream news about this at all – I wonder if the blogs will make enough noise to force them to investigate and cover it?
If you care about promoting freedom, have a look at the story and cover it on your blog. We should make a diference for the sake of the chinese who are living under censorhip whoever it comes from.
I think highlighting this important issue on blogs is a good thing to do, even if it eventually turns out to be a false story (in which case, unlike the mainstream media websites I will print a retraction here in this post).
