It seems I have fallen into the very same trap that I have been trying to address in my recent posts on “tone” in the blogosphere. I recognised this trap yesterday and tried to address it to some degree in my post 2001 posts and counting. What trap have I fallen into? Well it is the trap of writing in such a way that I can be misinterpreted. My original post which was intended to serve as a complement to... Read more

UPDATE – please see my public apology to Phil after reading this post. Well, time for a bit of good old fashioned blogspotting I think! I will admit it Centurion , I did ask a select handful of blogging buddies for links to mark my 2000th post. Despite appearances we are never totally “above” the hunt for links, although to be honest I am not sure I want TOO many more links or traffic as I quite enjoy the level... Read more

This is the 2000th post on this blog, which means that I have been posting on average just short of two posts a day for almost three years. That’s a whole lot of words one relatively recent reader has set out on a quest to go back and read ’em all. I am not sure that too many will want to join him! As I drew near to this post, I wondered how best to use it. I briefly considered... Read more

My first born is nine years old today and quite the young lady. Fortunately, however, she is not too old for a new cuddly toy friend! My responsibility as a husband and father takes the prime call on my time, so no more blogging for me today!   Read more

My dear friend and blogging partner David Wayne reaches his 1000th post today. Congratulations David! He says “blogging has been the next best thing to the seminary experience for me” and then goes onto say something which I think Spencer and Johnson are discovering. “We all have the tendency to become insular and not able to see outside our own traditions and circles of friends. As a Presbyterian I can go to my church and rail against the liberals, the... Read more

This from Mark over at Together for the Gospel which is fast becomming a personal rather than group blog!“Consider what it means to have a church of baptized pagans. I remember a few years ago, reading in Mohtama Gandhi’s autobiography this frank admission: What I want to achieve what I have been striving and pining to achieve these thirty years is self-realization, to see God face to face, to attain Moksha (spiritual deliverance) . . . I have not yet... Read more

UPDATE – please see my public apology to Phil after reading this post. Following my post yesterday entitled Power struggles in the blogosphere and the pulpit Michael Spencer has attempted to help us to understand everything with a post entitled “The titanic struggle explained.” His funny post fills me with great hope that a thaw may indeed be possible in the God blogosphere’s cold war. It just remains to be seen how the followers of these two giants of the... Read more

One of the things that amused me about reading Spurgeon’s life is the crazy projects he undertook whilst “too ill” to preach! It seems that John Piper has a similar approach. I understand that Piper is recovering well from his recent cancer op but this DG News article is an insight into all that goes on in the life of DGM even when Piper is “resting” “March 1, 2006: John Piper is on sabbatical March 1 July 31. Please pray... Read more
