Eternal Perspectives has posted an exegesis of the Good Samaritan which is well worth a read and made up a word in an email to me which I plan on getting the first ever google entry for- an “exposipost” which is a blog post which is expostitory in nature. You heard it here first! Read more

The Warnies award is given in recognition of general blogging excelence as judged entirely subjectively by me. These are the blogs that I believe may be headed for the dizzy heights of blogging recognition. It could equally be called “Warnie’s blog tips”. What prizes do recipients receive? Firstly they get mentioned here, and on whichever blogs feel it is worth mentioning the latest award recipients. Secondly, there posts are aggregated in the Warnie recipients group aggregator at Blogdigger- this in... Read more

Eric wonders why people call him by the name of his blog, and for me the answer is simple- when I hit “Blog This” thats the name which comes up! I am enjoying his blog a lot these days despite our differences. He has posts from a catholic background and it is great to not be interacting with a straw man. Most recently he has written a great posts which quotes wikkipaedia and suggests that catholicism and arminianism are essentially... Read more

One thing that I hope I have made clear enough is that although God saves us entirely as a result of grace and not because of anything we have done, because it is hime that has changed us on the inside, we should expect such a work to have an impact in lives for the good. We cannot simply say “I believe” and continue in our old life if we want to say we have been saved. Spurgeon put it... Read more

It challenges me how indifferent we can be to the plight of those who don’t know Jesus. IF we really believed that people were on their way to hell unless they were saved shouldn’t we care a little more than we do about the plight of those who are not as blessed as we are to be saved? Spurgeon put it this way: “to win a soul, it is necessary, not only to instruct our hearer, and make him know... Read more

More from the Soulwinner: “The best attraction is the gospel in its purity. The weapon with which the Lord conquers men is the truth as it is in Jesus. The gospel will be found equal to every emergency; an arrow which can pierce the hardest heart, a balm which will heal the deadliest wound. Preach it, and preach nothing else.” Read more

Its been too long since I have quoted Spurgeon here so time to remedy that with this fantastic quote from his book on soulwinning which I have just started to re-read online where it is available free: “if we do not teach men something, we may shout, ‘Believe! Believe! Believe!’ but what are they to believe? Each exhortation requires a corresponding instruction, or it will mean nothing. ‘Escape!’ From what? This requires for its answer the doctrine of the punishment... Read more

Ales Rarus has now made himself really clear. I can understand what he is saying, but struggle to recognise it as Biblical. You see, Ales seems to have understood instinctively what many an Arminian has tried to deny- if we accept that man really has a totally free will, that gives man some of the credit for his salvation and also makes it insecure. I am not happy with that concept. His points are logical, but I beg to disagree... Read more

So many people seem to have got the wrong end of the stick on what I have been saying, that I think it must have been my fault. My posts may not have been clear enough that far from asking “what is necessary from these things to be saved?” I actually believe that salvation itself is a gift from God. Our faith is not what saves us, rather it is God’s grace in granting us the faith that is itself... Read more

Blogotional says in his usual pithy way: “a simple gospel will change the world” and reminds bloggers that some of what we discuss is more complex than many of today’s churchgoer will understand. He argues that some of the points are less important than others which is no doubt true. But what I would say is it is important for a full understanding that we have some understanding of all the phases of responding to the gospel that Peter in... Read more
