Parableman explains the close association between these two concepts. They really are the foundation of the Christian gospel. To me, to repent is to change your mind and your direction in order to think different things about God, and trust him alone for your salvation. It involves changing the very core of your being in such a way that the direction of your life has changed. If faith is not worked out in life it isn’t faith at all. As... Read more

People blame more women in the workplace, they blame friends reunited but the simple fact is that more people are admiting to adultery than ever before. It seems that married women now have affairs as often as men. Indeed the Times article suggests as many as 60% of wives may have been unfaithful. According to the same paper divorce is becomming ‘normal’ to children. I find both statements hard to believe. Call me old fashioned but, unless my wife dies... Read more

Received this on email today- I really like your web log and would appreciate some advice from you. I also have a web log and believe that I have good things to share with people through my articles and messages. But I wonder how I might increase traffic to the site. Any advice on how I can do this? Any counsel you can provide would be great! There are a number of things that people can do that will certainly... Read more

Freud and Lewis may seem a strange combination, but as an attempt to contrast two world views you could scarely choose a better pair. The program Question of God aired last wednesday and the second part will air next wednesday. I know I am a bit late to this party. Most bloggers have already commented on this, but I only got my special preview copy a few days after the first part of the series aired. Incidently it is an... Read more

Its the end of a busy week of giving oneself to work. I hope thats the kind of week you have had- its certainly the kind I have! I really do believe that work is important to us, its just not the most important thing in life. This morning I asked my eldest, Tamasin what is most important in life. We agreed very quickly on a simple set of priorities: God, family, church. Work is definitely a poor 4th As... Read more

It seems we have forgotten that there is such a thing as a suicidal terrorist. We have had people climbing all over Buckingham Palace, Tower bridge and now invading our parliament. I suspect that in most countries (no doubt including the USA) all these ‘lovable eccentric’ English protestors would have quite simply been shot- despite their royal connections. We simply cannot allow this kind of nonsense at this time, or before we know it the next terrorist atrocity will be... Read more

The Blogdom of God will continue as it has done (if it aint broke, don’t fix it!). There will however be two new aggregators on the block, which should be really helpful especially now the blogdom has grown. These are the Evangelical aggregator and the Reformed Blogs aggregator. Do pop by and visit them during this, another of my intermittent breaks! Read more

ReepiCheeps reports Time keeps on slippin’…… slippin’, slippin’ into the future. Why I haven’t been spending time in the Word: a top 5 list: I’m too busy with work. I’m too busy with the family. I’m too tired. My commute takes over two hours out of my day. I just don’t have the time. Our youth pastor pointed out the obvious solution several weeks ago. Can you guess? He suggested that I could probably use my commute time. No, he... Read more

The world will never forget 911. A year ago I said it felt like yesterday, and it still does. I am not American, and until earlier this year I had never been to New York. On 9/11, I didn’t loose a loved one or a friend. But I remember seeing the second plane hit the building live on TV and, just as promised, it was a day that changed history. It was a day that marked the expansion of the... Read more
