Designed as a replacement to the 35-year old jalopy known as the Paykan, the two-seat convertible Anna is targeted towards Iran’s huge under-30 population. Admiring the sleek new car in a showroom, Saleheh Najafi exclaims, “I would like to drive this car, to put down the roof and feel good, to feel the wind blowing through my hair,” she said, miming her waving locks with one hand. But what about the mandatory head scarf? “Oh,” she says, giggling. “You’re right. Well, still, it would be nice to feel it blow around the scarf.”
