I’m back now from 5 days of silence with John Travis and the Teton Sangha, based in Jackson WY and two nights camping and practicing my photography in the Tetons with Julie. Now… a return to the treadmill of email, finances, facebook, and little things like shaving every day and changing my socks.
More on the retreat to come, and of course lots of photos. There is something wonderful about trekking around National Parks in the off-season, when it’s just you, the trees, and the animals, enjoying some peace and quiet before the rush.
I still have plenty of editing to do on photos, but here are some starters….
Two Blue Herons Dancing in the sky. They were amazing to watch; far more agile than you’d guess from there pterodactyl-like appearance. Julie got some shots at one close-up… Looking forward to seeing those.
Buffalo in front of the Tetons from Antelope Flats. We went around a herd of about a hundred of them and a hundred or so elk with them. Close-ups to come.
I’m not sure what kind of bird this was – a falcon of some sort I believe. S/he swooped silently over the snow for a few moments, up, down, curving around, diving in. And then, up with a mouse and away.
Sandhill Cranes
Another bird. An osprey (many thanks to John in the comments). I should have known, as osprey are practically the city bird of Missoula.
For now it’s back to ‘real life’ at the parents’ house, making fun of the new painting project my mom has embarked upon, having a beer and veggie burger with family friends, and just plain enjoying spring in Montana.
