Pew Research: most Buddhists in USA are Democrats – Have your say here

Pew Research: most Buddhists in USA are Democrats – Have your say here 2016-02-25T21:23:15-07:00

As voters continue to go to the polls across the country in primaries and caucuses, we’re hoping to get a clearer picture of who Buddhists in the US support.

As such, I’ve designed a simple poll to find out who Buddhists support in the upcoming US presidential race. Please complete it as fully as possible and share it with friends/sangha members/etc to get the largest body of data possible. The poll is open to Non-Buddhists and to individuals outside of the US as well.

The poll will provide data on Buddhist political leanings generally, as well as specific information based on age, gender, income levels, racial/ethnic background, and location. Under religious affiliation, individuals can select Buddhism along with other religions if they choose, and within Buddhism can select multiple schools. With just 10 questions, the poll should take less than five minutes to complete.

Comments in the comment section below (on this blog) are welcome.

The poll closes MONDAY, February 29 at noon MST (2pm EST). A breakdown of results will be posted shortly thereafter.

UPDATE: The initial surveymonkey poll was limited to 100 responses, which came in quickly. Those will be assessed along with the ones that continue to come in over the next 4 days on this form.

As results from a 2014 Pew Research poll show, Buddhists in the US are 16% Republican/lean Rep., 69% Democrat/lean Dem., and 16% Independent/no lean/other.
